Using the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, the PML-N leader expressed her concern about the unexpected outcomes, stating, “It appears that this year’s grading has resulted in inequitable results, causing significant unrest and anxiety among students. Expected A* grades have turned into Cs and Es.”
On August 10, more than 45,000 students in Pakistan received their Cambridge International AS and A-Level results. The total number of entries for Cambridge International AS and A-levels in the June 2023 series in Pakistan reached over 118,000, marking a 10% increase from June 2022.

Maryam Nawaz noted, “Numerous students have reached out, expressing their dissatisfaction with the CIE’s grading this year.”

Highlighting the challenges faced by the students, she explained, “These students have put in an incredible amount of effort; their university offers and future careers depend on the decisions made by the CIE.”

Maryam stressed that it would be a positive step if the CIE reconsidered its grading system for this year in the interest of fairness. She also urged the CIE to take into account the circumstances under which Pakistani students took their exams, amid unprecedented political turmoil that jeopardized their safety and well-being.

In conclusion, the PML-N leader commended all the students who remained dedicated and performed their best despite the challenges they encountered.
